While looking through the Courier Journal website, there are many great things as well as many flaws in the website. To some people it can seem a bit abrupt to have the opening page of the courier journal be about subscriptions. this seems forceful; like they are pushing their services down each others throats. Some people may be logging on the website just to see this information but many people just want then news. It would be smart for the Courier to maybe have this page on a separate tab on the home screen or near the bottom, underneath the important news that the people need to see.
All in all, the Courier Journal has a very nice, professional look to it but they might want to reconsider their production of the information that is needed for the general public to see. If someone looked at the app for the CJ, then they wouldn't be hit with the subscriptions page. Rather it is on another part of the app that completes the website and makes it have an overall professional look to it.

Mia Breitenstein blog review
http://miamazingthoughts.blogspot.com/?m=
Above is the blog of one of my fellow talented classmates who discussed TV news terminology. Her blog was great and had lots of depth and character to it. I liked how she fully described each of the terms with comparison and contrast to the other listed terms. Mias blog has definitely helped me out with understanding these TV terms and I hope it can help and influence many other people as well.

News critique #3
While reading the Courier Journal these last couple issues I have found out that they focus more on the publicity stories that involve citizens and their rights. They have really gone in depth of the debate which is very important at this time in society. It is important to write about this because it effects everyone that lives in the United States. While narrowing in on Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, people will have an easy experience to understand and follow the outline and basics of the upcoming election SO they can make their decision for their personal favorite candidate.
Overall, I think that it is great that the Courier Journal has many great aspects to introduce many new news stories that will interest the many readers that it has.

Local news critique #1
While looking through the Courier Journal in class there was and article that Courier Journal readers saw and have respect for the article about the death of the King of Thailand. While comparing with other sources there weren't any other stations hay mantioned it and if they did then it wasn't very detailed. This was important because without this article, many people could've missed out on the sad news of he devastating loss.
Overall, this was important to include because this needs to be clarified to the general public so citizens of he world can know what to do to help support citizens of Thailand through their loss.

TV news terminology
Today in class we talked about TV news terminology throughout news media sources. These are all common sightings throughout any news channel with decent publicity. These terms include voice over, B-roll, package, stand-up, toss, block, break, teaser, remote shot, and VNR. These terms shape and make the news entertaining to the general public that watch a specified news source. These terms also give the news a unique and professional feel that attracts more viewers that will enjoy and value their news that is being produced.
Without these effects the news would be very cookie-cutter and basic with just the same reporter or two talking the entire time over a allotted time spot for news that day. These effects add character and adds that extra something that makes that news source stand out as a whole.

local news source
The news source that I am working with is the Courier Journal. I personally really like this source of media because it is the hard facts and has many characteristics that make it unique compared to other local news sources. In the courier journal, the articles are followed by other articles that are then followed by other articles. Everything seems to have a sort of flow to it which makes it easy to follow and get the most reliable news. I also like seeing the picture in front of me as a hard copy where as other sources are either on TV of through an app (which the CJ does have an app that can be easy while on the go). T he courier journal does have its downfalls like if a part of Louisville has severe weather where the delivery men can not reach their house then they won't get that issue of the Courier Journal.
The actual facts of the Courier Journal are more abundant compared to other news sources. While comparing our amount of stories with other stations, it is very clear and obvious that the Courier Journal has the most stories and almost all of the time, these stories are relevant and can relate to a vast majority of the Louisville population. Another reason that the Courier Journal is the most reliable to me would be the fact that it covers local, national and international stories. I know that other sources do this too but the Courier Journal has a couple more that not many people really know the full story about.
All in all, I would recommend the Courier Journal to someone who just moved to Louisville who needed the most reliable news.
Below is the courier journals website that is also very accessible to the public.

Class discussion Review: 10 elements of journalism
One of the first things we learned about in Joirnalism 1 was the concept of the 10 elements of journalism. These elements are vital in the production of any type of journalism to make sure that everything is being clearly stated to the audience. From truth and loyalty to analyze and inclusive, journalists have a very big job to do.
The first element is truth. Being truthful as a journalists is so important because the audience is relying on you to give them the correct information when needed. The next element is loyalty. Loyalty is also very important because journalists produce to a mass audience so it needs to be able to be read by everyone and not pointing anyone or anything out. The third element is verification. Making sure that your subject is able to be verified is so important because nobody wants to hear false information when they need to hear what is true, loyal and correctly verified.
The fourth element is independence. In journalism, independence assures that the writer or producer is not giving their opinion but is actually give the facts even if they go against their personal beliefs including information about religious or political standpoints. The next element is called watchdog. Watching over the people in charge of the community is a big job so it's important that journalists look out for all of these socially organized and present people. Next is forum which is basically the "comments" section on an article. Journalists strongly incourage opposition to show debate between subjects.
Four more to go! The next element is the ability to make the important interesting. As a journalists your job is NOT to make the interesting important because that is not vital for the human species to know unlike most current event topics. Plus, nobody wants to read a boring and blah article that doesn't interest them. Next element is inclusive which includes keeping the news comprehensive and proportional. Journalists need to value diversity as well! Almost there! Next is the element of leaving room for dissent which is freedom for journalists to explore their beliefs on the topic. Joints lists need to do this in a moderate way so that it doesn't conflict with the element of independence. Lastly, there is analyzation which is making sure that the audience knows the difference between the truth versus lies, rumors and propaganda.
Overall, the ten elements of journalism are very important and are definitely something that every successful journalists need to follow on great detail.
